Shopping festivals:
Sharjah is popular amongst the tourists for its shopping festivals. Every year, all major shopping centres and individual sellers arrange shopping festivities during the Holy Month of Ramadan and the Spring Promotions in March.
Sharjah Summer Festival:
In summer, the city of Sharjah offers ten weeks of fun and great entertainment for all. This annual event starts in the month of June running parallel to Dubai Shopping festival. During this festival, a large number of summer promotional activities are arranged in the city. The promotional activities include special discounts and offers, some promotional events and grand shows. Usually, these activities are organized to encourage visitors and locals to shop during the summer season.
Sharjah Spring Festival:
Every year, the city of Sharjah has seen an increase of tourists during the spring festival that is arranged in the month of January. The event is participated by over 1700 shops selling a variety of products. The promotions during the spring festival include special discounts and offers, fun and entertainment and activities aimed at highlighting the tourism scene of Sharjah.
Souqs:
Sharjah city has several interesting Souqs and markets overflowing with individual stalls. Normally, Souqs are divided into areas selling similar products. Some of the traditional Souqs are preserved and renovated carefully by the authorities of Sharjah to retain their traditional charm and comfort of modern life as well.
Some famous Souqs include Blue Souk, Souk Al Arsah, Old Bazaar, Iranian Bazaar, Al Majarrah Souk, The Central Market and Sharjah Gold Center etc. The Souqs in Sharjah provide almost everything and the tour of the Souqs offers a great opportunity to study the ethnic culture of an Arabian market.
Blue Souq:
Blue Souq is the largest and one of the most important Souqs in Sharjah. It is known as Blue because of its uncommon blue vaulted roof. Located in the Khaled Lagoon region, Blue Souq has 2 sections and about 600 shops. The first section on the ground floor holds the shops of gold and designer wears made of gold and stone studded jewellery, including the antique Yemeni and Omani ornaments. The other section on the upper floor holds shops of electronic appliances, gifts items, garments, cosmetics, perfumes etc.

Though Dubai is famous for its shopping, Sharjah is also a fantastic shopping destination. The city of Sharjah has some of the largest shopping centres in the UAE.
