Where to Eat at Al Majaz Waterfront After Dark: An Evening Food Walk

The lagoon-side promenade at Al Majaz Waterfront stays busy late. Here is how to work through it in one evening, from a first coffee to a dinner table facing the fountain to a late plate after midnight.
Why Al Majaz works for an evening food walk
Al Majaz Waterfront runs along the Khalid Lagoon on Al Buheirah Corniche Road. Its cafés and restaurants sit close together along one promenade, so you can graze your way along without getting back in a car. You pay for what you eat and for any individual attractions.
October is when evenings start to feel comfortable for sitting outside again, and the terraces facing the lagoon fill up accordingly. Arrive after sunset and let the evening build towards dinner.
This guide sticks to Al Majaz. Al Qasba, on the other side of the Khalid Lagoon, deserves its own night. If you want both, treat Al Qasba as a separate stop rather than folding it into this walk.
Getting there
For a taxi or your own car, set your GPS to Al Majaz Waterfront, Khalid Lagoon.
The official Al Majaz website has a dining directory, but its listings appear to be several years old.
Check access hours before you go. Restaurants keep their own hours, and many of them run past midnight.
Stop 1: Coffee and a light snack
Start with something small so you have room later. Al Majaz's dining directory has listed several familiar coffee and snack brands along the promenade:
- illy café and Caribou Coffee for a coffee on the way in
- Dunkin' if you just want something quick in your hand
For a savoury bite, Tasty Station in Al Majaz is a fast-food option.
Stop 2: A table facing the fountain
Shakespeare and Co. is the obvious place to sit and watch the lagoon, with views towards the fountain.
You can use it as a mid-walk pause for a drink and dessert, or settle in for a full meal. Check its hours with the venue before you plan around it.
The musical fountain is the evening's entertainment. It runs at set times after dark rather than continuously. If you want to see a show, ask your server or a member of waterfront staff when the next one starts, and time your table around it.
Stop 3: Dinner
Once the fountain has done its thing, walk on to dinner. The promenade has a broad spread of options, and many keep late hours.
Levantine
Levantine is the place for a long, shared-plates kind of dinner. Confirm its current opening hours with the venue before you go.
Ushna
Ushna is another sit-down choice on the promenade. Confirm its current opening hours with the venue before you go.
Seafood by the lagoon
Spice Grill Seafood is a seafood option for a weekend dinner. Check its hours with the venue before you go.
Fish Island is the other seafood name on the waterfront. Its published hours are unclear, so check directly before planning around it.
Something familiar
For groups with mixed tastes or children who want something recognisable, TGI Friday's is on the promenade. Confirm its current opening hours with the venue before you go.
Chinese Food House adds another option to the mix.
Stop 4: Dessert and late plates
Cold Stone is the easy dessert stop on the way back along the promenade. Pick up an ice cream and walk it off by the water.
If the evening runs long, two places have been listed as serving late:
- Qasar Halab is a candidate for a very late meal or a final round of tea. Check its closing time with the venue first.
- Al Bait Al Baghdadi is another option for a late dinner. Check its hours with the venue first.
A suggested route
- Around sunset: arrive, grab a coffee from illy or Caribou, and walk the promenade while the light fades.
- Early evening: take a fountain-view table at Shakespeare and Co. and catch a show.
- Dinner: move on to Levantine, Ushna or Spice Grill Seafood, depending on your mood.
- After dinner: get ice cream at Cold Stone for the walk back.
- If you are still hungry past midnight: finish at Qasar Halab or Al Bait Al Baghdadi.
Good to know
- Cost: check with the waterfront for any entry or attraction charges. Attractions such as mini golf and the splash park, and any special events, may charge separately.
- Weekends: Friday and Saturday nights are usually the busiest.
- Families: the terraces and family seating make this one of Sharjah's easier evening outings with children.
Restaurant line-ups, opening hours and fountain schedules on the waterfront change over time, and some published listings are out of date. Check before you go, either by calling the venue or the waterfront's main line.
